Easily the worst Chinese food in the area and among the worst in Connecticut. How anyone rates this place about 2 stars is a serious head scratcher. We arrived, large party, and the restaurant was empty and that should have caused a chain reaction message to register in our heads... retreat! The other restaurant we wanted to go to was closed so this was the closest available and Zhang’s was horrible. In no particular order the food was cold, yes freaking cold, greasy, bland, too salty and not fresh at all. They failed on nearly every aspect of a restaurant experience. General Tso = cold and way too much breading. Shrimp and scallops = bland, not fresh... with a total of one scallops. Broccoli and tofu in garlic sauce = cold and bland. Chicken in some sauce was bland, too salty, and cold. Two orders of Peking ravioli probably took a week off our lives = dripping with grease and not sure what was in the filling but left a bad aftertaste. Chicken wings = fried death, greasy beyond understanding. Vegetable fried rice = cold. Just take the three adjectives - cold, bland and not fresh - and run the opposite direction. We learned a lesson which is to avoid this place at all costs. How they stay open is a mystery but given the reviews on here maybe the customers suffer from impaired taste perception? It is a Madison mystery and really makes you wonder about the reviews!
